I replaced the dead battery of my HP 14-bf101nl with a new battery but the charge lasted only 3 hours so I tried a Battery Check with the HP Support Assistant and it said that the battery needed to be calibrated.
I tried to follow this HP guide about manual calibration: https://support.hp.com/it-it/document/ish_4339959-4211033-16
But when I reached the point 7 when it says to click the button to start calibration, the calibration doesn't start because it says that I have to connect the AC adapter even if in the point 1 of the guide it says that I have to disconnect it.
However I tried the calibration with the AC adapter connected but it didn't go well and after starting the notebook, the Battery Check with HP Support Assistant still says that the battery need calibration.
This is the message that appears after calibration process: https://imgur.com/i2x2IiT

How can I solve the problem?

Hi @Dev00,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're facing some issues with calibrating the new battery in your HP Pavilion 14. Battery calibration is important to ensure accurate reporting of battery life and performance. Here are some steps and considerations to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Ensure Proper Calibration Procedure:
- HP's battery calibration process typically involves fully charging the battery, then discharging it completely, followed by recharging it to recalibrate the battery gauge. Make sure you follow the steps precisely as outlined in the guide.
AC Adapter Connection:
- The inconsistency between the guide and the actual requirement to connect the AC adapter could be confusing. Here’s how you should approach it:
- Disconnect the AC adapter when you start the calibration process as mentioned in the guide.
- If the calibration software insists on having the AC adapter connected during calibration (which is uncommon), you may need to temporarily connect it as instructed.
Check Power Settings:
- Ensure your laptop's power settings are configured correctly:
- Set your power plan to allow the battery to discharge fully without hibernating or sleeping prematurely.
- Avoid interruptions during the calibration process, such as closing the lid or allowing the laptop to enter sleep mode.
Repeat Calibration Process:
- If the first attempt didn’t succeed, try the calibration process again:
- Fully charge the battery.
- Disconnect the AC adapter.
- Let the battery discharge completely while using the laptop.
- Recharge the battery fully without interruptions.
Verify Battery Health:
- Use alternative methods to verify battery health, such as:
- Checking the battery health in BIOS (if available).
- Using third-party battery monitoring software to cross-verify the calibration results.
Update Drivers and BIOS:
- Ensure your laptop’s BIOS and battery drivers are up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix calibration-related issues.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the battery calibration issue on your HP Pavilion 14.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your answer.
I tried again the calibration several time following the instructions but the battery doesn't calibrate.
Someone said me that the problem could be the battery itself beeing a compatible battery from Green Cell and calibration won't work because it isn't an OEM battery.
So I should buy a OEM battery.
