Thanks for the suggestion. I have already tried to boot Ubuntu 26.04 and Fedory 44 from an USB stick. unfortunately the BIOS did not let me boot.

Can you suggest a Linux distro that works?

Hi @jgch

Thank you for responding.

I understand that you are looking for a Linux distribution that works well with the HP Z Book. However, please be aware that HP provides limited support for Linux operating systems, So I would request you to please contact linux support for further assistance.

Have a good day.

We are turning circles. First it was recommended to check if the device visible under Linux only to later being told that Linux has a limited support on my device. Seems like I have to open a defect at the support.

Hi @jgch,

I understand your concern regarding the Proximity Device error. Since you have already attempted multiple software troubleshooting steps, including testing different Linux distributions, and the issue remains unresolved, this may require a more in-depth diagnosis.

At this point, to perform advanced troubleshooting and, if necessary, arrange for a hardware evaluation of the unit if the unit is in warranty as per the warranty entitlements and to get you the best assistance, we need to take this conversation to a private chat. We're inviting you to a private message to protect your privacy and ensure that any sensitive information remains confidential.
