HP ENVY x360 - 15m-bp111dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop has 12GB of installed memory.  Using the WMI interface I can see that there are 2 slots.  One has 4GB and the other has 8GB.  I can also see that the 8GB stick is made by "SK Hynix".  I found the user manual that says it comes with 12GB pre-installed.

Regardless of all that I want to know if bank 0 is soldered onto the board, or if it is a true memory slot.  What I mean is can I replace the memory in BOTH slots?  Or am I limited to replacing only the 2nd slot as it appears in this video

Looking at how to open up the HP Envy x360 15-bp100na laptop, and remove the SSD, HDD and non-integrated DDR4-2133 memory module.

Hi,

The 4GB RAM "module" is not removebale, as it is onboard (integrated on motherboard). There is only one upgradable slot. You can insert max 16GB module of DDR4 2400MHz for a total of 20GB.

You can see on page 1 of service manual

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05527167

On page 35 you can see the steps to replace the RAM.

Now an upgrade which would greatly increase the everyday performance of the PC, would be to insert an M2 PCIe NVMe SSD in the M2 slot. Such as the Samsung 970 Evo Plus or similar of your desired capacity (no limit). You will need to reinstall the OS on the SSD.

Hope it helps,

David

This answer is confusing. You point me to information I already knew.  The wording can be taken two ways:

  1.  No the RAM in slot 0 is not removable
  2.  No the RAM in slot 0 is removable.
