I am looking for an 8-GB-RAM-Stick for my

HP Pavilion 17-f100ng.

I found out that

DDR3L-1600 PC3L-12800 1024x64 1,35V

should do, but the one I tested did not work.

Has anyone here the same Laptop with 8 GB RAM and can tell me exactly the Manufacturer, part number etc. of the RAM?

I did not find a support list 😞

Thx in advance.

Hi:

Chapter 3 of the service manual shows two different part numbers for 8 GB memory chips for the model series.

Did you try this memory that Crucial indicates is compatible with your notebook?

Crucial 8GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM | CT102464BF160B | Crucial DE

You can check eBay for the 8 GB HP memory part numbers listed in the manual and see if you can find one there.

Thank you for your quick reply. I surched the manual for "CT102464BF160B" without results. Which page / line do you mean?

You're very welcome.

The Crucial memory is aftermarket and the part number they sell is what they indicate is compatible with your notebook.

The 8 GB part numbers HP uses that I recommended you search for are found in chapter, 3, page 29, item 10 of the service manual:

8 GB memory module   693374-005

8 GB memory module   670034-005

These part numbers can be for several memory brands that HP uses in their notebooks

Could be Samsung, Hynix, Micron...they won't be made by HP themselves.

HP does not tell us the Samsung, Hynix, Micron part numbers because HP wants to sell the RAM for much more money we would pay in any online shop 😞

It is not an argument to buy a notebook if the manufacturer does not provide support lists.

So I have to pay the HP-price or I have to try and buy RAM that possibly does not work. For that reason I hoped someone could tell me what RAM works in his own laptop ...

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I can't help you any more than I have already.

There is no one here that will be able to tell you exactly what memory chip will work because of what I indicated.

The HP part numbers are used for different brand memory that they had on hand at the time of manufacture.

If you haven't tried the Crucial memory that they indicate is compatible with your notebook, you may want to try that one.

Good luck.

With "CPU_ID" you can see exactly what kind of RAM is used:

If someone has 8 GB in his laptop he could give me the information.

This one works in my laptop!

It is a Samsung 8GB 1RX8 PC3L-12800S DDR3 1600 MHz 1,35 V.

The "8 GB 2Rx8 PC3L - 12800S - 11 - 12 - F3" was recognized as "4 GB"

so I suppose that other Sticks do as well as long as they are "1Rx8".
