I have an HP Pavilion DV6-1240ea, running on Windows 10, System Type 32bit. I want to upgrade the RAM from 4 to 8GB or 16GB- Is this possible?

A couple major problems with it...it is DDR2 memory and while it will take 8 gigs of RAM that will cost a lot of money like well over $100 for 2 x 4 gig DDR2...and, even worse, with a 32 bit operating system the money would be wasted because a 32 bit OS will only address (be able to use) about 3.5 +/- gigs of memory. 16 gigs is not possible at all.
See page 3 of the Service Manual here:
Share your thoughts. Are you believing that if you could just install 8 gigs of RAM it would run really fast?
Is there some software you believe you could run that you can't now?
32 bit cannot be upgraded to 64 bit...requires a complete wipe and reinstallation but the direct answer is you can run 8 gigs of RAM IF you have a 64 bit OS.
