pavilion DV6
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

hi everybody,

I have a hp pavilion-DV6 - 6080  notebook pc.
product number: A7N34EA#ABB

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz, 2001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB

and I really need it to be faster especially due to its RAM which is currently 6GB
according to the maintenance guide for upgrade options (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842252) I must be able to upgrade to 16GB RAm because of the intel-processor I have.
but when I search on the Hp website for my laptop model, the catalogs mentioned to 8GB RAM.
would you please tell me the maximum amount of RAM I can add to my laptop and kind of a link for that RAM to purchase? because there are so many kinds of them out there with different frequencies and staff.
regards,

Hi:

Notebooks with the Intel core processors can take 2 x 8 GB of memory for a total of 16 GB.

I checked too, and see what you mean.  None of the memory sites offer a 16 GB kit.

This model has basically the same specs as yours so the memory recommended in this report should work for your model too.

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-dv6-6c14nr

Don't buy the 1866 MHz memory because your notebook is only going to run the memory at 1333 MHz anyway.

Here are the specs on the dv6-6c14nr...yours actually has a better processor.

AMD models in that series only take up to 8 gigs but your Intel 2d gen Quad Core can run 16 gb. 2 x 8 gig DDR3-1333. I know Crucial posts DDR3L-1600 or even -1866 for these models but I don't believe that memory is optimal. You will have a much better experience with 1.5 volt DDR3-1333. I know it is getting harder to find.
