Hi,
I have HP 1000-1431TU Notebook PC, Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz, with 2 x 2GB DDR3 PC3-10600S. I look at the laptop manual and it says my laptop support up to 8GB DDR3 RAM with 12800 speed. I want to upgrade the speeed and capacity of my RAM, so about a week ago i bought 1 piece of 8 GB DDR3 PC3-12800 from online marketplace, I put it in my laptop (only 1 RAM slot used since i bought 1 8gb piece), at first it boot up normally, login to my user and then it give me BSOD with 0x0000225 error code in it. The laptop turned off, i tried to turn it back on, but it did not boot up my windows, only black screen with blinking capslock (2 short blinks). I tried to update the bios via USB it did not work. I tried to reset CMOS by removing the CR2032 battery for about a minute it didn't work either. I give up and put my 2x2GB RAM back, it boot up perfecly like it used to.
I don't know whats wrong with it. Did i do anything wrong ? did i bought a bad memory ? I need help troubleshooting because i want to upgrade my RAM for better performance. Thank you !

Yea, that RAM should -that is, in theory work, but I am not sure if its 11-11-11 timings at 1.5V is compatible. Remember, your laptop is quite dated. In any regards, I would recommend/try this 2 x 4GB Crucial dual voltage (1.35 & 1.5V) RAM: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Single-PC3-12800-Unbuffered-204-Pin/dp/B009RBN6I6.

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
It is true that your HP 1000-1431TU (F2D09PA) according to: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03762978.pdf, can be fitted with 8 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM, but perhaps you will have better luck/results with this configuration: 2 x 4GB of DDR3/DDR3L PC3-12800, 1600 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 204-pin RAM sticks.
What brand and part number does the 8GB RAM stick have?
Kind Regards,

Good news that you got a refund for that RAM!
Btw, if you don't mind, please follow up once you tried the 2 x 4GB Crucial RAM, because feedback goes both ways.
Please note, that legit brand-name RAM -specifically Crucial and Samsung, offers the best chance for success, at least in my personal anecdotal experiences over the last three decades.
Happy Holidays and Kind Regards,
