Pavilion DV7 2030ev
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hi forum !

I do have a Pavilion DV7 2030ev with product number NQ560EA#B1A.

My BIOS is version F.46, the CPU is "Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHz" and the OS is "Windows 7 Professional 32-bit Service Pack 1".

I'm planning to upgrade to Windows 10 64 bit and, at the same time, I would like to upgrade my hardware, so my questions are the following:

1. What is the maximum of RAM size I'm allowed to install on the notebook ? Right now, I do have 2 GB since I have 32bit Windows, but it will not be a problem as I will move to 64bit.

Is the maximum 8 GB ? Is it 16 GB ? Can I have the maximum memory using one memory module or I need two ?

And the most important, what type of memory do I need to fit on my model ?

2. I want to install an SSD disk as my primary disk and use the existing hard disk as secondary. As I know, the notebook has place for 2 hard disks, so I guess it will not be a problem if I follow this scenario, is that right ?

Also, is there a limitation on the specifications of the SSD that I want to buy ?

Kind Regards,

Petros.

@previewgr,

There are no details for the SSDs listed on the website you have shared.

Your computer is not tested with SSDs by HP, however, you can install SATA SSDs on the computer at your own discretion.

@previewgr,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I checked the specifications of your computer and see that your computer supports up to 8GB memory. Your computer has PC2-6400, 800-MHz, DDR2 RAM.

Your computer doesn’t support SSDs. Please refer to the below service guide for your computer for more information.

Hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

Hi @The_Fossette

To start, thank you very much for the time you spent and for the RAM advise.

As for the SSD compatibility, it looked strange to me not to have compatibility, so I continued searching the net and I found the following:

https://www.mrmemory.co.uk/memory-ram-upgrades/hp/pavilion-notebook/dv7-2030ev-entertainment

How do they sell SSD disks if they are not compatible with the model ?

Could you do me a huge favour and verify it ?

Kind Regards.

Hi.

Just to help other users who may look for the same info.

I installed a SATA3 Kingston SSD hard disk, 240 GB which is working fine.

Thanks for your time.
