Hi,

In the service manual we see that you can upgrade to 16GB of DDR4 2400Mhz (2x8GB)

However, HP DDR4 systems will axtually run with 32GB of RAM so that would be the actual max. There are two slots and at the moment you have 2 sticks of 4GB. You can buy RAM from your preferred brand such as Crucial, Samsung...

On page 51 of service manual you can see the steps to upgrade RAM

Hope it helps,

Hi thanks for the response,

I would be interested in the 32Gb for running CFD, although i worry that this laptop overheats quite quickly, would this affect the core tempreture? are there any ways of improving the cooling for this laptop? sorry for the sperate questions

HP Recommended

Your welcome.

It will not really affect the temp of laptop. Yes, those laptops seem to run quite hot even though the heat should not really be a problem for the system since the Tmax for the CPU should be about 100 degrees Celcius.

They are powerfull and beautiful machines and the Thunderbolt3 port even allows for external graphics by using an Omen accelerator or something similar.

Let me know if you need any further help.

David
