Hi, a while ago I started receiving intermittent blue screens. They gave a few different stop codes, but mostly "Memory Management." Both the Windows diagnostic tool and Memtest86 say there are problems with my RAM. Memtest returned so many errors that it stopped the tests. Now, I am getting a "Memory Management" blue screen every few minutes.

The RAM is the original Samsung DDR4 SDRAM 1x8GB SODIMM, 2133 Mhz.

I did not contact HP before my warranty expired (about a month ago) because the screens were only intermittent, but now they are frequent and I believe the problem began way back then.

Before I pay for new RAM myself, could I get this taken care of under my (now expired) warranty?

Thanks,

Ben

Hi! @BSafranski, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you are getting a blue screen with memory management error on your PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Were there any recent windows update on your PC?

Did you replace any hardware components on your PC?

Please share the blue screen error on your PC to assist you better.

Simply put, a memory management BSOD means there’s been a critical memory management error. There are several well-known causes for memory management errors:

Faulty RAM
Issues with new hardware, such as a graphics card
Faulty drivers
Software issues, including corrupt system and operating system files
Disk errors

Hit Windows key + I to open the Settings panel. Now, head to Update & Security, then check under Windows Update for any pending updates.

If there is an update, save any important files, then press Restart now. Your system will reboot during the process.

Also, try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are functioning correctly.

Mr. Robot,

Thanks, but I have tried all of those avenues.

I have updated Windows, I have not added any hardware, and I have run several diagnostics. The Windows System Diagnostics said that there was a problem with my Memory hardware. I also ran Memtest86, and it returned over 10,000 errors before shutting down.

Therefore, I am fairly certain that the Memory has to be replaced. Can you help me get it replaced by HP?

Thanks,

Ben Safranski

If your warranty is expired, the replacement memory costs will be from your own funds.

An expired warranty won't cover anything.
