Hi, I am planning to upgrade the RAM on my laptop, HP Pavillion DV7-3183CL. I'm running on Windows 7 Home Premium. Currently 4GB ram is installed. What is the maximum RAM and type of RAM I can install? When I bought the laptop back in 2004, the max RAM possible was only 8GB. Can I install a SSD on this laptop, if yes, what do I need to do? Thank you for your help. Bala, Malaysia.

8 GB is still the maximum installed memory allowed. That will not change.
The Crucial memory website gives details on the memory that is compatible.

Crucial Memory also provides specifications on the 2.5" SATA SSD type required to upgrade the notebook.
Upgrading to an SSD will represent a major boost in performance for your notebook.
You won't believe that it is the same notebook.
