Pavilion 15-cw0009la
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, there!

I have a HP Pavilion 15-cw0009la and it comes with 12 GB of RAM (4 GB + 8 GB). Anyway, I want to upgrade the RAM in order to get dual channel performance. The question is: Do I need to change all the RAM and use two slots of the same brand or I can use the 8 GB slot it already has and buy another one with the same properties? The one I'm thinking of is a Crucal 8GB Single DDR4 2400 (PC4-19200) SODIMM CT8G4SFS824A. But I don't want to waste my money if it won't work.

Thank you so much.

Hi:

You don't need to replace all of the memory.

Find an 8 GB memory module with the same specs as the one in your notebook now.

I have zipped up and attached below, a free utility that will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the memory modules in your PC.

If the Crucial memory module matches the specs of your notebook's current memory module, it should work just fine.
