Hi everyone,
I own a Pavilion DV7 - 2230ev (product number is VL035EA#B1A) Notebook PC. The motherboard is a QUANTA-3624 and the CPU: Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo P8800 @ 2.66GHz Penryn 45nm Technology. My installed RAM is 2 modules of 2 Gb (total 4 Gb RAM), the DRAM frequency is 533 MHz. After reading some topics on the web I have a question. Is it possible to upgrade RAM to 8 Gb or maybe more? And what is the max frequency of the RAM that my motherboard can support? I forget to mention these
CAS# Latency (CL) 7 clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) 7 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 7 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) 20 clocks
Thank you very much,
Antonis.

The DV7-2000 series can have either DDR2 or DDR3 memory and the best info I could find says your model has DDR3 which is good for you as it is cheaper. Yes your max is 2 x 4 = 8 gig DDR3-SO-DIMM. You are seeing it as 533 mhz because the memory is DDR = double data rate so it actually cycles at 533 mhz but the system "fetches" data twice on every cycle so it is commonly known as DDR3-1066. 1066 is as fast as you can install. DDR3-1333 will work but it will just run at 1066 speed.
Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.
