RAM upgrade

Good day, I have a HP 17CN0036OS Product number: 54S24UA#ABA notebook. It came with 8Gig RAM but I was told I can upgrade to 16Gigs. I was also told by HP support to purchase "16 GB of DDR4-3200, dual-channel". 

My question is do I purchase 16 gigs and replace what is in the unit or do I purchase 8gigs and add it to what is already installed?

Also what do you recommend I purchase (brand, store)

Hi, your Laptop has the model number HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c0000 (2W0J7AV), and for this model, the maximum RAM memory it can take is 16GB which you can then combine two 8G RAM (8GB x 2).

Since your laptop has two slots you can buy two separate RAMs of 8GB and put them in the two different slots.
