Hello!

I'm currently thinking of upgrading my existing RAM for my laptop in order to maybe be able to run some games smoother. My idea is to upgrade it to 16GB as it seems to be more than enough for this machine at least.

Here are my system information along with what the manual says about it's memory specs if that helps:

System info
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz 1.99 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.85 GB usable)

Maximum Memory
32 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM13
Memory
32 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (2 X 16 GB)13
16 GB DDR4- 2400 SDRAM (1 X 16 GB)
16 GB DDR4- 2400 SDRAM (2 X 8 GB)13
12 GB DDR4- 2400 SDRAM (4 GB and 8 GB (1 x 8 GB)13
8 GB DDR4- 2400 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)
8 GB DDR4- 2400 SDRAM (2 x 4 GB)13
4 GB DDR4- 2400 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB)

Memory Slots
2 SODIMM
Both slots are customer accessible / upgradeable
DDR4 PC4 SODIMMS, system runs at 2400
Supports Dual Channel Memory

I have absolutely no idea how to proceed and I'm completely lost regarding a decision when it comes to buying the right RAM stick/s for it.

I've seen this online for a decent price but I'm not sure if it's compatible or not:

Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 PC4-25600 16GB 2X8GB CL16 (https://www.pccomponentes.com/corsair-vengeance-lpx-ddr4-3200-pc4-25600-16gb-2x8gb-cl16-negro)

Also, is it better to buy a 2x8gb pack or simply a 1x8gb and keeping the existing one?

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi:

The Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 PC4-25600 16GB 2X8GB CL16 memory is almost guaranteed not to work as the CL16 timing is way too fast.

HP business notebooks use standard memory with the standard CL speed for the memory you want to buy.

In the case of DDR4-3200 memory, the CL speed needs to be 22

DDR4-2666 = CL19 and DDR4-2400 = CL17.

If your notebook currently has 1 x 8 GB of memory, you just need to install a second memory chip in the empty slot.

This 8 GB memory chip should work alongside the one the HP installed.
