Hello,

I have an EliteBook 840 G3 that had only 8Gb 2133Mhz Ram Memory I upgraded it to a Kingston 16Gb 2666Mhz Ram Memory (KVR26S19S8). But the computer is still running on 2133Mhz speed and I don´t find anywhere to configure/release the speed not even in the BIOS. I have checked all drivers and Bios updates with HP Support Assistant.

Could anyone help?

Thanks.

Hi:

All of the 840 G3 processors offered in the model series can only run the memory at a max speed of 2133 MHz.

So any memory you install that is faster than 2133 MHz will automatically bridge to 2133 MHz.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with why the DDR4-2666 MHz memory is only running at 2133 MHz.

Look up the processor specs for the best processor HP offered in the model series--the Intel Core™ i7-6600U.

Intel Core i76600U Processor 4M Cache up to 3.40 GHz Product Specifications

The memory specifications for the removable memory are 2133 MHz.

Hi,

I really thought the EliteBook 840 G3 was available with 2400Mhz and 2666Mhz at the time, but yeah now I went to lookup and confirmed it was only at 2133Mhz.

Well thanks.

You're very welcome.

Not until you get to the 840 G5 model series with the Intel 8th gen core processors, will 2400 MHz memory speeds will be supported.

Even the 7th gen core processors of the 840 G4 model series only run the memory at 2133 MHz.
