Notebook PCs need SODIMM type of memory.

looking at Crucial report and AMD specs I previously posted, your notebook probably handles 32 GB memory, but I just can't guarantee. If you still want to try 32 GB, just use plain standard 2 x 16 GB DDR4-3200 CL22 SODIMM memory.

If you really want 32 GB, you can try Crucial's 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 memory. They guarantee compatibility. if it doesn't work, perhaps, you'll have an easy return.  It's up to you.

does corsair work as well? its cheaper at my local best buy

Corsair, G.Skill, Kingston Fury or any other performance/gaming memory may cause a compatibility issue with HP notebooks. It's best to avoid those brands.

HP usually uses Micron (Crucial), Samsung and SK Hynix memory.

ok, thanks for the info, and i found this:

Memory Layout (Slots & Size)2 x 8 GB
Memory Module TypeDIMM
Memory Size16
Memory Size UOMGB
Memory Slots Number2
Memory Speed3200
Memory Speed UOMMT/s
Memory Standard (facet) (GB)16
Memory Storage Simplified16 GB memory; 256 GB SSD storage

does it mean that is a regular dimm slot, or still so-dimm?
