Pavillion 15 eg0007nl
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an hp Pavillion 15 eg0007nl and I'm trying to upgrade the RAM with 2x 16GB, but I don't know why it's not working (I have black screen when I turn on).

Here there is the RAM:

https://amzn.eu/d/gdYMmws

My motherboard supports 120GB of RAM, ddr4 and I 3200mhz, don't know else.

Should I do something or it's normal to have black screen?

Thanks for reply,

Massimo

He bought the plain cl22 RAM. Must be a rank issue. According to Crucial, Kingston and reviews this is a 64GB max RAM system. The Crucial dual rank 2x32GB kit "CT2K32G4SFD832A" will work nicely. The 2x16GB kit might not......

Hi, Massimo:

What is the CL of the memory you installed.

If it is lower (faster) than CL22, that is probably the reason why the memory is not working.

Your notebook uses standard DDR4-3200 memory with a CL of 22.

It Is CL22 1,2V

You want to avoid gaming or performance memory such as the Corsair Vengeance. The timings (CL=) on such memory are aggressive (fast) and can cause problems with HP notebooks, particularly the Pavilion series. Try something like this:

https://www.amazon.it/Timetec-Performance-PC4-25600-Unbuffered-Compatible/dp/B098TXZY34/ref=sr_1_13_...

Timetec is the amazon house brand made by Hynix and is good stock OEM memory

Interesting.

It should have worked then.

The only other observation I can make is the service manual indicates the max memory is only 2 x 8 GB of memory and that may be non-negotiable.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

But I would have thought that 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200, CL22 memory would have worked in your notebook given the 11th generation core processor it has.

Are you sure this other RAM works?

Thanks for help,

As sure as possible without trying it in your laptop. I also checked on the Corsair Vengeance and the info I found says the latency is less than 22 but not 100% sure its the exact same product you have. You can try going to the Crucial site to your model page and see what memory they offer. If you buy from Crucial on the page for your specific model they guarantee compatibility.
