Hi, my mother bought this computer back in 2018, but has now given it to me. I wanted to upgrade the ram, so I looked up the products information and found that it has 1x8gb of ram and two ram slots. However, when I opened the computer it had 2x4gb. So, I wanted to know if this is normal because now if I want to upgrade to 2x8gb then I have to buy both sticks of ram instead of only one. The reason this is important to me is because I was planning on buying an Hp laptop for my friend, but if the ram could be 2x4gb instead of 1x8gb, then I wouldn't want to get it. Maybe I'm overlooking something and I'm sorry in advanced if I am.
When bought it was brand new. It's never been taken to a repair shop or opened by anyone.

Hello
we can not answer for hp, but it sometimes happens that the characteristics of the product pages are not completely exact
It may sometimes happen that for some models, due to the availability of parts, two modules or only one are installed.
as long as there is the quantity mentioned, this should not be considered as false information
to know that it would not have changed anything, because in a concern of compatibility, it is sometimes necessary to replace everything, because we do not always find the identical model installed
