HP Laptop - 14-dk1025wm

Recently, I bought a Crucial 8GB RAM module for my laptop. It currently has a factory Samsung 4GB module, model: M471A5244CBO-CWE.
The new module I bought is:
Crucial 8GB 3200MHz CL22, model: CB8GS3200.CRT

However, the laptop wouldn't display anything — it powered on, but the screen stayed black. Sometimes it entered the BIOS, but after exiting, it would go black again. (In the BIOS, the RAM was detected. I even tried using only the new module, only the Samsung one, and all possible combinations.)

(The samsung ram always work without the crucial module)
I was able to access the diagnostic menu and run a memory test on the Crucial RAM, and these were the results:

Memory Test - Error Details:
Failure ID: RG9V50-AJ0CLD-MFGG2K-409X03
Product ID: 1A491UA#ABA

Does this mean the Crucial RAM is defective, or could it just be incompatible with my laptop?

The Crucial memory you bought should have been compatible as it has the right specs, so it is probably defective and will need to be returned.

You can enter the required information at the link below, and it should provide a report of the code and the most likely way to fix it.

When I entered the info you posted, this is a partial copy and paste of the report I received:

Failure details - Memory Test:
Failure ID:RG9V50-AJ0CLD-MFGG2K-409X03

Component tested: Memory Test
IMPORTANT: A memory module (RAM) is not working and may need to be replaced.
Remove any added memory and re-test.

Hi!

Paul, actually I think that this RAM module is incompatible. This is a Crucial Basics (budget) RAM module, and Huffer EXPERT Level 18 has talked about why they should be avoided -especially on systems running DDR4 on the lower speeds- here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/My-laptop-won-t-start-after-up.... Forum member Javiserdo should try to get the 2400 8GB module suggested on the Crucial page for his laptop model.
