Hi:
Below is the link to the specs for your notebook.
HP ENVY X360 - 13-ar0501sa Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support
It comes with 8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (onboard) memory.
'Onboard' means the memory is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.
Chapter 3 of the service manual shows that different motherboards were offered in the model series.
Motherboards come configured with either 8 or 16 GB of onboard memory.

Is there an alternative? I use adobe softwares. My laptop is struggling particularly with adobe premier pro. After research I have found that premier pro ideally needs 16gb of ram. But as I only have 8gb of ram cannot upgrade the ram. Is there anything else I can do?

You're very welcome.
Yes, you can try that.
I didn't suggest it because normally using a USB flash drive as additional memory slows down the works.
If you are going to do it, use a USB3 flash drive and plug it into a USB 3 port to get the best results.

You're very welcome.
Readyboost is really used to help slow mechanical disk drives on PCs with limited memory (< 8GB) which your PC does not have.
You can read the article at the link below for more info on how it works.

I think the only way you are going to find out if it helps any is to give it a try--especially if you already have an available USB 3 flash drive you can use.
