Hello,
I have a HP 255 G8 laptop with Linux Mint as the OS. Lately I've been i've been getting random freezes where the OS hangs for a few seconds, then the screen goes black, and I have to press the power button to forcefully reboot.
The freezes occur after a few hours of usage.
These issues started when updated my BIOS from F.33 to F.37 Rev A.
There were two BIOS images available for the HP 255 G8 F.37 Rev A BIOS update: SP149375 and SP149376
They are entirely identical, except that SP149375's file is slightly larger and its description mentions support of ROM families 87D1, 87D2, or 87D3, while SP149376's mentions no specific ROM family.
My System Board ID (or ROM family) is 890E.
I installed SP1493765. Since the update executables are Windows-specific I had to create a BIOS recovery USB drive with the updated BIOS from another computer, plug it on my laptop and perform a manual BIOS recovery.
Did I install the wrong BIOS ? My laptop isn't bricked, in fact I'm using it to write this right now.
Should I revert to the previous version ? I updated it hoping to get HP Battery Health Manager but it's not there.
Thanks
