Rapid drop in battery capacity until gone completely

Hello,

About a week and a half ago I noticed my battery life on my HP Spectre x360 15 started to decay very rapidly. It has been slowly decaying for years, as one would expect, but all of the sudden over a weekend it dropped from a couple hours, to one hour, to 30 minutes, 10 minutes, down to seconds and so on within a few days, to the point where now the battery does not function at all and simply says 0% and the laptop needs to be plugged in at all times or it dies instantly. I ran several HP battery checks on the way down, and they would say it was fine. The windows battery checks I ran over that weekend yielded normal capacity numbers, like nothing was wrong. Since the battery no longer functions at all I can't run the HP battery check anymore, as doing so causes the laptop to die even when plugged in, and now I get the 601 error code on startup saying the battery is critically low. The laptop usually runs okay on wall power for small tasks but playing a video game causes it to die even while plugged in. Any possible explanations as to why this happened? Any fixes? Is this normal at all?

(2) Start <HP Support Assistant>

- Run <Battery Check>

- Click on <Show advanced information>

In which country do you live ? It is about an order possibility for replacement battery.

Image didn't go through but it said it needs to be replaced and is no longer under warranty. I live in the United States.
