Hi sir, what is the maximum SSD capacity for my device?

If I want to upgrade my SSD, do I also have to reinstall Windows?

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

Generally, there is no limit to the storage capacity of a NVMe SSD you can install as long as it is single-sided, so it fits in the SSD slot.

Most notebooks will support NVMe SSDs up to 4 TB in storage capacity.

You would have to reinstall Windows on the new drive.

Sure enough I had to reinstall Windows, and it was a hassle...

I can't find a report for the 14-d3000 model series, but here is the Crucial report for the older 14-d2000 model series which shows that they sell NVMe SSDs up to 4 TB.

Since the 14-d3000 model series is newer, that information should be the same.

Unfortunately, HP only has the service manual for the original 14-d0000 model series available.

The drive capacities listed in the manual are just what HP offered, not the maximum capacity supported.

In your opinion, which brand of SSD is the best among KIOXIA, Samsung, and Crucial?

HP Recommended

IMHO, Samsung makes the best drives overall, but they are also the most expensive.

They also seem to run cooler.

For very good performance, Crucial is probably #one since they offer the same warranty as a Samsung drive and cost considerably less.

I have both drives...a Samsung 980 PCIe Gen 3.0 and an old Crucial P5.

I like both of them very much.

I have no experience with Kioxia drives.
