Hi FaithR2

You have described the exact situation I have. From my experience in dealing with HP both here in the UK and the States I now believe that HP will use any excuse not to carry out hinge repairs even under warranty as in my case, the reason they give is that the damage TO the hinge is "customer induced" a phrase they have used many times, the history to this debacle, as I understand it is that this was brought to their attention around 2009, when class action was being talked about they agreed to carry out repairs to some of these laptops, it was not well publicised and the time allowed for claims was very short consequently many customers with this problem were unaware that they could submit a claim. Even after this the hinges continued to fail right to the present day and HP have refused to acknowledge this as a problem or to carry out repairs as they should.

If you contact any helpline/forum etc they will promise to "reach out to help" you will be pushed from pillar to post, you will be told that your case will be escalated to the next level, you will be told "someone will be in touch" from my personal experience none of this will happen, my first post here I was told the mod would refer it to the right departmentand someone would be in touch - it has not happened.

I also posted HP's own information for making a complaint here in the UK, the mod has edited it out with no explanation, I have also been warned by the mod that if I continue breaking the posting rules I will be banned, I asked for an explanation as to what rules exactly had I broken - no reponse, so to sum up, all of us with broken hinges are going to be quelled one way or another, I have personally accepted that HP will not help so my next move is to use Trading Standards here in the UK and to try and bring this out into the public domain further by contacting several consumer affairs programmes, again, I have no doubt this post will be edited or taken down altogether, I wish you good luck and stick at it because not to is what HP want.
