I am also having the same issue. I took the battery out because it was deforming the case so bad.

 

Do I have any recourse on getting this battery replaced under warranty?

In that case, I would suggets you conatct our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

 

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

 

 

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

 

2)Select the product type.

 

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

 

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

 

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

 

I followed your steps and it is showing the warranty status as expired, which is correct. But there are no link for chat or phone number listed, instead there are links to the support community and to search for service centers. Is that because phone support is only available to unexpired warranty products? 

 

I was hoping that if this is a known issue with certain HP batteries that it would be covered by a battery recall. Is there any chance of that? Or am I out of luck and would need to purchase my own battery replacement?

They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number.

 

Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact.
