Great info, especially the attached hwinfo file.
My laptop is a Pavilion x360 - 15-cr0053wm. 4GB of DDR4 2666. The manual says each slot can hold up to 8GB module. Crucial scanner and Sisoftware Sandra says each slot can hold a 16GB module. and Crucial says each slot can hold a 16GB 3200 module. wmic memphysical get maxcapacity say it will hold 33554432.
I would assume that makes the manual wrong, but Which is more believable?
Thanks

You're very welcome.
I would go with the preponderance of the evidence that indicates 2 x 16 GB of memory is supported.
Oftentimes the HP service manuals understate the amount of maximum memory that can be installed.

Instead of new thread, I'll expand on my question if that is acceptable.
Pavilion x360 - 15-cr0053wm with Samsung 4GB module 2666 single rank X16 based
My 1st question is why HP put that module in when the laptop can't run the memory at 2666.
2nd question. I am looking at this crucial kit CT2K8G4SFS824A DDR4 PC4-19200 • CL=17 • Single Ranked • x8 based •
How much difference does it make if the ram is X8 or X16 based? Should I stay with memory modules @2666 or go with a 2400 since that is as fast as laptop will run the ram module?
Thanks.

Hi:
The first answer to your question is a simple one...that is what the service manual calls for.
DDR4-2400 dual channel support (DDR4-2666 downgrade to DDR4-2400)
Why would they do that?
Most likely that is the memory that HP had on hand at the time the model series was being manufactured, and no doubt DDR4-2666 memory was cheaper and more available than DDR4-2400 memory was at the time.
I would buy the DDR4-2666 MHz memory kit that Crucial recommends for your notebook.

I don't know the answer to your question about the x8 or x16 based memory, so I recommend you start a new post regardng that question.
From my own experience, I never looked at that specification, and every memory chip I have ever bought and installed in a desktop or notebook PC has worked.
