Hi @obsa11
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for laying out the details clearly. That “Real-Time Clock Power Loss (005)” message typically appears when the CMOS battery—responsible for maintaining system time and BIOS settings—has lost power or failed.
Here’s how you can address it:
1. Set the Correct Time and Date
Start with the basics:
- Boot into Windows.
- Go to Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time.
- Set the correct time and date manually if it hasn’t auto-synced.
This may temporarily suppress the error, but if it returns after a reboot, proceed to the next steps.
2. Update BIOS
A BIOS update can help stabilize system behavior after a CMOS reset:
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter your laptop’s model number.
- Download and install the latest BIOS update available for your system.
- Restart after installation.
3. Perform a BIOS Reset
Resetting BIOS settings can help clear residual errors:
- Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
- Once inside, press F9 to load default settings.
- Press F10 to save and exit.
4. Replace the CMOS Battery (if accessible)
If the error persists, the onboard CMOS battery may need replacement:
- Refer to your laptop’s Maintenance and Service Guide on HP’s support site to locate the CMOS battery.
- If you’re comfortable, you can replace it yourself. Otherwise, a service technician can assist.
5. Run HP UEFI Diagnostics
To rule out other hardware faults:
- Restart and press Esc, then F2 to launch diagnostics.
- Run the System Test and check for BIOS or RTC-related warnings.
You can also find the latest diagnostics utility on the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics page.
Let me know how far you get with these steps. You're taking the right steps to get this resolved.
