Hi

I have SanDisk microSD adapter, made in China in 2018/06/23

When I put my SD card on the adapter and inserted it in to the slot of the Realtek PCIE CardReader,  I found that Windows didn't show anything, i.e. Realtek PCIE CardReader couldn't detect the Sandisk Adapter inserted into it.

I tried uninstalling the driver of Realtek PCIE CardReader although it showed that it's working well, and I restarted the laptop. But that made no difference.

I tried reinstalling the Reatek PCIE CardReader by following these steps:

1) In the search box, type, and open “Device Manager”.

2) Expand “Batteries”.

3) Right-click the "Reatek PCIE CardReader" that is listed there.

4) Click on “Uninstall”.

5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver

6) Restarted the computer.

When the computer comes back up, it couldn't automatically find the driver.

9) I went  to Device Manager.

10) I found that PCI Device  undefined.

11) I tried installing its Realtek PCIE CardReader Driver for Hewlett-Packard (sp55104)

12) I restarted the computer, but I still see 'Realtec CardReader' having a yellow mark which indicates that

The driver for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

But whenever clicking on 'solution', I didn't find any response.

I tried searching automatically for drivers, but Windows determined that the best driver for this device is already nstalled.

I tried installing the Realtek Semiconduct driver via Windows optional updates, and the Realtek CardReader got working properly back.

But when inserting MicroSD adapter into it, there is nothing detected by Windows.

The MicroSD adapter is functioning well and the SD card on which can be read when the SD card adapter is inserted into a CardReader of a car TV screen.

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to install the W10 driver for the RTL SD card reader.

Thanks a lot,

I tried first to uninstall the existing driver of Realtek CardReader, and restarted the computer.

Then I installed the driver above you suggested, and restarted my computer.

But I still see the drivers for this device being not installed although Wizard installer showed me it has been successfully installed in the end of the installation.

But when I let Windows download and install this update shown below, the driver of this device got installed.

However, CardReader is still not detecting any MicroSD adapters inserted into the slot of CardReader.

I am still stuck on why the device manager shows, under the device status, that device is working properly. But when inserting any MicroSD adapters having SD card into the slot of card reader, I didn't see anything being shown or detected by Windows.

You're very welcome.

Sorry that driver didn't work for you.

There should be no need to uninstall the old driver when you install a new one.

One last idea you can try.

See this discussion...

The person indicated that the Snailsuite driver update program worked for them.

Thanks a lot,

I followed exactly what the person indicated, and I opened that link mentioned and this page was opened for me.

Realtek.JPG

I selected the 'Driver Updater' link

Then, this page showed for me

Realtek1.JPG

I clicked on driver updater', which redirected me to a page where I could've downloaded and installed PC HelpSoft Driver Updater on PC.

After that, I let that PC HelpSoft Driver Updater scan my pc looking for any driver updates. It found a list of device driver updates.

Finally, I only selected RealTek PCI device, and it downloaded and installed its driver.

But that  PC HelpSoft Driver Updater didn't give or find any new driver other than the same driver provider (RealTek Semiconduct Corp) I found  through Windows Updates.

Realtek PCIE CardReader cannot be detected the Sandisk Adapter when insertedRealtek PCIE CardReader cannot be detected the Sandisk Adapter when inserted

But the Card reader is still not being detected by Windows since it's the same driver downloaded and installed via Windows 10 optional updates.

Why, do you think I had had to download and install PC HelpSoft Driver Updater if I could have downloaded and installed drivers via Windows optional updates?

Btw. Could you please let me understand why, in the device manger, although the Realtek Card Reader device isn't being detected, the status is stated with the following text:

"This device is working properly."

Sorry that didn't work either.

Unfortunately, I don't know what you can do to fix the problem.

It is very possible the SD card reader's read head has developed a hardware problem of some kind.

I once had a HP nc6400 business class notebook and the Texas Instruments card reader reported working normally, and it would not read any SD cards.  Exactly the same issue you are having.

And I was running a supported operating system on it so I know it couldn't have been a driver problem.

Thanks a lot,

But my RealTek Card Reader needs a MicroSD adapter in order to for SD card is put on it since the slot of card reader is wider than SD card is fitted to it without adapter.

Secondly, why was the Card Reader reading any SD card on the earlier version of Windows 10(versions earlier than 22H2)?

But one Windows udate got Card Reader being unable to read any SD cards. Though I don't know exactly when and which version of Windows might be causing this issue.

It's supposed that whenever Windows versions are being improved and upgraded, the best drivers of devices will be developed as well to fix some problems and keep devices running smoothly.

Even if the physical devices installed on a PC became so old that they cannot be compatible with the latest versions of Windows, the Windows team would have paid attention to this as well as the developers of devices to keep compatible drivers available for any old devices installed on a PC is still meeting the minimum system requirements to run Windows 10.
