HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp3000 (799U8AV)

Hello,

I have two recurring issues with my HP laptop that appear to be related to power loss and charging.

Device information:
HP Laptop 17-cp3709ds Rfrbd US PC
Product number: AA2Z3UAR
Serial number: 5CG44134G0
Windows 11 Home 25H2 (Build 26200.9168)
AMD Ryzen 5 7530U with Radeon Graphics
16 GB RAM
BIOS: Insyde F.11 (08.05.2025), UEFI
Secure Boot: Enabled

The problems are as follows:

  • Every time the laptop completely runs out of power, the next startup triggers BitLocker recovery. I have to enter the recovery key and then set up my Windows PIN again. This happens consistently after a complete loss of power, regardless of what caused the discharge.

  • On several occasions, the laptop has also continued to discharge while plugged into the original HP wall charger, eventually reaching a critically low battery level or shutting down completely.

  • When the laptop enters this "plugged in but not charging" state, reconnecting the charger does not help. The only way I have found to restore charging is a forced power discharge/reset by holding the power button, after which charging works again.

The most recent incident occurred while the laptop was connected to the charger but nevertheless discharged to approximately 5% and shut down. This again triggered BitLocker recovery and required me to set up my Windows PIN again.

The charging issue is intermittent but has now occurred several times. The BitLocker/TPM issue occurs consistently whenever the laptop completely loses power.

Could you please advise what could be causing these issues and what diagnostics or further steps you recommend? I am particularly concerned that the intermittent charging problem is causing unexpected power loss, which then repeatedly triggers the TPM/BitLocker recovery process.

Thank you and kind regards,
Maria
