Hello,
I recently bought a laptop OMEN by HP - 15-dc0999nf and i have an issue : after removing the battery (because i'm always on AC adapter), i always get "at the first power up" multiple reboots and right after that : "The CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted. please check your bios setup options to see if they change. CMOS reset (502). enter reboot the system".
After the reboot, it works perfectly i can do anything until i shutdown take out the ac adapter put it back again and then get back the same issue before it reboots and works like a charm again.
I'd like to point out that the ac adapter make the components hotter (when on battery, a lot less heat), but now they look fine even without the battery, it's like they just adapted. I have this pc for about a day.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I believe that by removing the internal battery, each time you remove the ac adapter the Bios is reset. These PCs do not have a seperate RTC battery (CMOS battery) and rely on the internal battery for this small amount of power.
So either you leave the battery in (it will not charge once fully charged until it falls below a certain level) or you will face this situation each time you reboot.

Your welcome. The battery will also deteriorate if left outside of the laptop. I usually do not worry too much about the battery and expect to replace it between 18-24 months to keep much of the capacity.
All the best,
David
