I'm wanting to add a 2.5" SSD to my laptop but how does one get the back off without damaging the metal case?

Removing the bottom ended up being easy (once you know the method.) Remove exposed screws using "Star" screw driver. Under rear rubber pad, there are additional screws to be removed.
Added second SSD drive to 2.5" bay. This required HP's special drive cable and drive holder/support. (Edit: Make sure you use the online spare parts listing and not the documents with the computer which were out of date and for a previous generation unit.)
Additional drive is used for user files while Main SSD is for programs.
