Hello Paul

I have created a W 11 Flash drive, still have it plugged into USB port.

Please excuse my ignorance but how do I download or boot the information onto my HP Pavillion g6 notebook.

I've never done this.

Hi:

If you used the automated W11 USB creator, then you restart the PC, tap the ESC key immediately as the PC restarts to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu and from that, select the USB flash drive, and press the Enter key.

Now I ran into a situation that I did not expect the other day when I upgraded an old notebook to W11 and was greeted with a message that indicated...'This PC cannot run W11.'

Read the info at the link below for the pretty simple way to get around that problem...case 2, but read what you need to do in the case 1 section.

That was nifty.

I followed all the steps as administrator  and still I get the message "This PC can't run Windows 11"

Any Advice

Will these new registry commands effect my W 10 installation?  Are they removable?

Hi:

It looks like you made all of the right changes.

I don't believe those changes will cause any problems with your currently installed W10 version.

Unfortunately, since you made all of the changes listed and you are still getting that error, I guess you can't proceed with the clean install.

So if you ran the setup application from the flash drive (which is not a clean install), you can make this further registry change and see what happens...

How to Bypass TPM and CPU Requirements for Windows 11 Upgrade on Unsupported PC - HELLPC

I did this on a newer PC where only the processor didn't meet the requirements, and it worked.

I had to create the MoSetup registry key folder, which was not there.

I tried the MOSetup registry key folder. Same result trying clean install and than from setup in the flash drive.

I looked in System Information on notebook. I searched Trusted Platform Module, answer no results. Than I found Secure Boot Unsupported.

I would assume I am out of luck.

I assume so, unless you want to google the problem some more.

There are some more complicated ways to actually modify a W10 installation flash drive with the W11 OS files from the W11 installation media and no checks are made.

The PC's I have upgraded to W11...

One has a UEFI BIOS, TPM 1.2, does not support secure boot, and has an unsupported i7-2600 processor.

I modified a W10 installation flash drive to do that in July.

One supported secure boot, no TPM, and an unsupported processor.

I did the 3 registry mods on that first link I gave you to boot from the media and do a clean install.

One had an unsupported processor only, and I used the last registry tweak to do an in-place upgrade.

One had an unsupported processor only, and I clean installed W11 booting from the installation media with no registry mods needed.

Paul

I thank you for all your time and input concerning my laptop issue and the inability of upgrading my laptop to W 11.

The laptop seems to have all strikes against it with age.

If you have any links which would reference "There are some more complicated ways to actually modify a W10 installation flash drive with the W11 OS files from the W11 installation media and no checks are made."   I would appreciate pointing me in the right direction to research.

Much Thanks

You're very welcome.

Look at Method 3 on the link below...

How to install Windows 11 on almost any unsupported PC (xda-developers.com)

You can just download the W10 ISO file from the link below.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

You basically have to "Frankenstein" the two installation medias to make one that works.

Good Morning Paul

In your opinion will the final result of using method 3 be able to get W 11 updates?

I have a Thumb Drive with a clean version of W 10 that I got from the manufacturer, only it is dated back to 2016.

Would I be able to use that W 10 ISO to create a clean install of W 11 using method three?

Many Thanks
