HP Omen 15-ce198wm

Confused don’t know if I can avoid buying 2 drives:

My HP Omen 15-ce198wm and the factory 1TB SATA HD died and is not repairable.
Can I  “Replace” it  with the Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 2tb- M.2 NVMe?

Can I restore the system on Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD with my USB Flash Drive factory reinstall copy(NO HD backup exists)?

Can I make the Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD the BOOT drive in the BIOS?

If not what is my best option to upgrade and get this OMEN running again?

Thanks so much in advance for any help

Here's the Service Manual:

Manual

See p. 33. This model is freely serviceable by the end user without warranty issues. Looks like this with rear cover removed:

M.2 SSD slot circled in redM.2 SSD slot circled in red

You can do all of the things you ask about. The best way is to remove the hard drive then install M.2 SSD and use your OS installer on it. With the SSD as the only storage disk it will "just work".

Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

That is great to hear thank you!

Is this the best upgrade I can do for this situation at this time or is there something better I may have missed?

You nailed it. Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVME is going to be the fastest and best storage you can install. Its what I have in my own laptop. Super fast.
