Hi!, @Time-Machine :
1. Remove the screw (1) that secures the optical drive to the computer.
2. Use a flat tool to press on the optical drive bracket tab (2) to release the optical drive.
You must push the flap out once the screw is removed, using the flat screwdriver.

@TheBestofWorld hey that picture you posted is NOT THIS LAPTOP. There is no access bay as depicted in your picture. Make sure you know what model you are dealing with before you start giving advice as it is very confusing.

@TheBestofWorld now you got it. That is correct. See the difference? No removeable back panel as your first post illustrates.
No need to thank me for joining I have been here a long time and I have actually had hands and screwdriver on most of these models. So thank you and keep in there pitching.

I understand your position, but knowing that the Manual is generic HP, I should present an annex to it, to present another configuration. I have also been in these sites for a long time and with different models of notebooks, but the confusion arises from not having the user model in hand ("in situ").
