HP 17-p110nd
Hello I own a n HP notebook en I want to change the harddrive for an SSD. I've done it before. So I know what I'm going to do. I watched several movies on YouTube but none of them looked like mij notebook. I asked HP on facebook en I got a manual, read it but the notebook was not the same. They could'nt help me further with my problem. I
unschrewed the bottem of the notebook but could'nt even it. Even the optical drive I can'nt remove it. I uploaded a picture. At the bottem are two black stickers. Ik removed them and I saw one screw, that I unscrewed. But behind the other blsck sticker was nothing at all. Maybe someone can help me with the problem. With kind regards, Harry

The screw to remove the optical drive is right in the middle of the back of the laptop and has a little disk icon next to it. Hard to tell in your picture if there is a screw in the hole. If that screw has been removed there is nothing holding the DVD drive in the laptop and it should come out. No need to open the disk tray. The whole unit with tray closed will slide out. It may take a little effort. That model disassembles from the top down and it takes a bit of effort to get the top cover coming off. A non-marring plastic spudger tool or old credit card you are not worried about destroying works best. And you must remove the hinge covers to get at the last couple screws. See pp. 29 and 32-35 here.
This is a Manual for the 15 inch model but disassembly of the 17 inch model is essentially the same.
Keep us advised on progress. This model series is not for the faint of heart its one of the tougher ones to service.

Thanks Paul for the quick reaction. I saw the video and the optical drive was removed bij removing one screw. Bij the notebook I have I removed all screws I saw. But I can't remove the drive. And the bottom stays tight. So thanks but the notebook on the video is not the same as the one I have. Greets Harry

You're very welcome, Harry.
I don't see a procedure to remove the bottom cover, only the top cover, and the rear corner covers.
I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't remove the 14 screws they mention in the video that some are under the rubber feet.

Hi, Harry:
Sorry you aren't able to get the thing apart.
Unfortunately, I don't have any other ideas for you to try.
You used this service manual?
This is the only one HP has linked to your notebook's model series.

Hey Paul, thanks for your help. I read the manual. But it is not the manual for my notebook. In video's on YouTube is see that at first the player must be taken out bij removing one screw. I can't find that screw. But anyway thanks again and grts, Harry

Hey The Best of World, thanks for your post. I Think I removed the screw that holds the optical drive. You can see that on the picture I posted. But I cannot see of find the optical drive bracket. When i press with a screwdriver into the hole nothing happens and the optical drive won't come out. And thanks for the SSD info. Grts, Harry
