Hi,
I have an hp omen 17-an135nf (with Processor Intel Core i5-8300H, under Microsoft Windows 11). I would like to replace its WiFi card, “Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 9560 802.11 ac 2 × 2 WiFi + Bluetooth 5 Combo Adapter (non vPRO),” with an “Intel AX200NGW M.2 NGFF Bluetooth 5.0 WiFi 6 2.4G/5G 802.11AC/AX.” Could you please tell me if the new card will work on it ?
Thank you for your answers.

I disagree.
This part number should work fine in your notebook.
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro HP Part # / SPS # L35282-005.
You can install a non-CNVI card in a notebook that came with a CNVI card, but you cannot install a CNVI card in a notebook that did not come with one.
Most of the time you can't even upgrade one CNVI card with another one.
For example, an AX201 or AX211 won't work in your notebook even though it came with the 9560 AC.
I have recommended the AX200 to several forum members that had notebooks with CNVI cards and it worked fine in all of them.

I'm answering my own question. I found this thanks to my friend Google :
Sadly, you likely cannot. The AC9560 card utilizes CNVio to interface with the supporting MAC in the chipset (PCH component). You cannot install non-CNVio cards, like the AX200 or AX210, into this connector. You also cannot install the CNVio2-based AX201 card as it is not compatible with the CNVio interface either. Bottom line, you are stuck with the AC9560.
Now, the AC9560 card is no slouch. It is capable of 1733 (1133+600) Mb/s on a good connection.
Hope this helps,

(Chipset of HP Omen 17-an135nf : Intel® HM370)
I would also add that CNVio2 devices themselves are not necessarily interoperable. Here's a summary:
Intel Chipset | Supported CNVi System Interface Type |
Intel 300 series | M.2: CNVio |
Intel 400 series Intel 500 series | M.2: CNVio and CNVio2* *CNVio2 support only for Model Intel AX101, AX201, AX203. |
Intel 600 series Intel 700 series | M.2: CNVio and CNVio2 |
A motherboard implementing CNVio can only support CNVio devices (there's only one, the 9560). A motherboard implementing CNVio2 can only support the CNVio2 devices that are supported with/by the chipset series utilized. That is, the AX211 and AX411 are limited to motherboards providing 600 or 700 Series chipset and implementing CNVio2 interface.
I would also add that I have heard of cases where CNVio implementations have caused problems for non-CNVi devices. In one case (reported by multiple people), POST failed if an AX200 card was plugged in.
Hope this helps,

So, if I understand correctly, installing a non-CNVio Wi-Fi card on a CNVio M.2 socket may not work, or it may work depending on the motherboard... I admit I'm not very keen on opening up my notebook for nothing, given the warnings issued by various Wi-Fi card vendors...
Bye ! 😉

Hi Paul,
I ordered this card, reference L35282-005, this morning on eBay for €12.90, which isn't a lot to pay for a test.
In addition, the card is located in France and comes from an HP ProBook 640 G5.
I'm reading your reply right now. I'll keep you posted. and therefore withdraw the “solution.”
Thanks again.

You're very welcome.
Glad you were able to get the card inexpensively and I am confident it will work.
If you don't have the service manual, below is the link.
Also, here is the link to the service teardown video:

Be very careful when removing and reattaching the thin and delicate antenna wires.
Looking forward to reading the results of your notebook's Wi-Fi card upgrade project.

Thanks Paul !
On my other old laptop from 2014, an HP 17-e131sf, I've already managed to replace its WiFi N 2.4 GHz 150 Mbps/Bluetooth 3.0 Ralink RT3290 card with a Realtek RTL8852BE WiFi 6 dual band 2.4/5 GHz+ Bluetooth 5.2 card ! No problem, the card is recognized perfectly, and I have a speed of 1201 Mbps for both upload and download !

Hi,
So I installed the Intel AX200 WiFi card instead of the Intel AC 9560. It was recognized perfectly. I already had the latest WiFi driver (23.160.0.4). I just had to install the Bluetooth driver (23.160.0.9).
Thanks again Paul for your support ! See you soon.

Hi Paul,
Thanks again for your confirmation, which worked fine !
Here is an example where it does not work.
On my 2011 HP Pavilion p6740fr computer (MSI MS-7613 HP Iona-GL8E Intel H57 LGA 1156 DDR3 motherboard, MS Windows 11 24H2, power 520W), I was unable to upgrade my original Ralink RT3090 150 Mbps mini PCI-e WiFi card. Either the computer starts beeping when it turns on, or the integrated Ethernet network card behaves abnormally (no lights come on even though there is a link), or the card appears but the Bluetooth functionality does not appear (no unknown devices).
I tested several Wi-Fi cards: Ralink RT3290 (FROM my HP laptop), Atheros AR58B125, Realtek RTL8852BE, WDX-8821UE, MPE-AXE3000H, with the correct drivers installed, of course. Still the same. It's okay, I don't use Wi-Fi on it.
This clearly shows that the mysteries of computer science are unfathomable ! 😅
Tschüss !
