HP Notebook - 17-by1053dx

Hi,

I started having time issues when booting my laptop recently.  A battery check showed the battery at end of life, which looked normal, as it was about 3 years old.  I replaced the battery with compatible aftermarket battery, as the original battery was not holding the CMOS time/date correctly.  After replacing the battery, the issue persists.

The laptop will function fine with charged battery and keep the time correctly after shut down for a few days, but if the laptop is left off power for a week or so, the time/date is incorrect again at POST.  At Windows login, the time and date is incorrect and I can reset it in Windows and it stays set again temporarily, but will revert to incorrect time/date if left off power for any meaningful length of time.

This laptop does not have a separate battery for the CMOS, so it draws power from the power battery itself.

I am looking for suggestions whether there is a fix, or (more likely) an issue with a recent HP BIOS update, or hardware somewhere.

Thanks.

Hi Elohi,

I have replied to you privately.  The suggestions in the document were appreciated, but unfortunately have not worked.  I am considering rolling back the BIOS, but am not sure that will work.  Please see my private reply.
