Hello,

I replaced my old battery with a new one. Then ran a battery check and I received this message: "The battery is reporting a failure and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. Your battery may be covered by your HP Warranty. Please contact HP.

I don't understand, this is a new battery. Why am I getting this message just hours after replacement? Did I buy a bad replacement battery? Or is there something else going on? Please help.

Hi Praveenbv,

The battery is working fine, but I'm not sure why the battery check is giving the battery failure message. Any reasons why?

Hi@Peatuhacs,

We understand that getting an error message

Try re-flash the BIOS?

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
  • Power ON the laptop.

Now let us uninstall the battery drivers and reinstall them. The following steps will help:

  • Open the device manager.
  • Expand "Batteries". Right click on the ACPI battery drivers and select uninstall. If there are multiple entries of the ACPI battery drivers then uninstall them all.
  • Close the device manager.Restart the laptop.
  • The Windows operating system will reinstall the battery drivers while restarting.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
