I just replaced the motherboard which was Rev. B and is now Rev. E. I've made progress in that now I have power, but it won't boot up (screen stays dark). Caps lock key flashes 5 times slow and then 3 times fast. Do I need new BIOS/drivers? Where can I find them?
HP 15-ef2040tg laptop with M40929-601 motherboard
Thanks

I had to replace the RAM, too. I've got it up and running now.
I didn't have any trouble with losing Windows. I had to find and enter my bitlocker key and it did update CMOS and BIOS.

You do know that you will have to replace Windows now, right? The product key for the preloaded Windows was embedded into the firmware of the motherboard and when you changed motherboards, you basically threw away the product key and HP will neither issue or sell you a second one. You will have to BUY a copy of Windows and install it OVER the current one, as the product key that comes with that can not be used to activate your HP OEM version of Windows.
Laptops, unlike desktops, are not designed or intended to have hardware upgrades -- so you take on additional costs like these when you are swapping out major parts.
