Hi there,

I am trying to find a replacement battery for my HP 250 G5 Core i7-6500U laptop but unsure whichto buy as I can't seem to find any specific for my laptop.

Firstly some information in regards to my issue and why I think I need to buy a new battery.

For the past month, I am having issues with my laptop battery. The two main ones being even though my laptop is in charge, it keeps sporadically going to battery mode and stops charging for about 10 -15seconds and then goes back to charge. It does this on and off all the time. Also, for the past week, it also does not charge past 80% or so. In addition, when it is in battery mode, when it gets to a lower percentage, it can just completely shut down even though there should be enough battery to power.

I have tried another offical HP charger but it still have the same issue and I have attempted to clean any dusts etc from battery by taking it out. Neither have worked.

Would I be right to think my battery needs to replaced?

If so, I am struggling to find one for my specific model. It is a HP 250 G5 Core i7-6500U like this: https://www.laptopsdirect.ie/hp-core-i7-6500u-8gb-256gb-ssd-dvd-rw-15.6-inch-windows-10-professional... #

I have tried to enter my product details in the HP parts store but it does not find anything.

Can anybody please help guide me as to what my specific battery is to replace and where I can buy an official one that delivers/is available in Ireland.

Many thanks. Jay

Hi,

You could try performing HP diagnostics on the battery.

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c04700771

The compatible batteries for your model

4-cell, 41-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery      part number 807957-001

3-cell, 31-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery      part number 807956-001

I see one is available in the HP parts store:

https://parts.hp.com/hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=EE3110905D1A46A4B4FC65B5E6170013&SearchIn=P...

or you could try searching online with the part number for a compatible battery

Hope it helps,

David

Hi David,

Thanks so much for your helpful reply.

I see that the "3-cell, 31-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery part number 807956-001" is in stock and not the "4-cell, 41-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery part number 807957-001".

Sorry if it's a silly question as I'm not knowleadgable on this subject. In terms of battery performance etc, do you know if there is there any difference between the "3-cell, 31-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery part number 807956-001" and the "4-cell, 41-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery part number 807957-001"? If so, what?

Many thanks, Jay

Hi Jay,

Yes the 4 cell battery will last longer than the 3 cell one, will keep a charge for longer.

You could also try here for original 4 cell one, but I see it says incoming so I do not know what that means or try online with part number.

Hope it helps,

David
