Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

My sweetheart dropped her notebook, and the battery broke in half. Bought a replacement for her, but upon installation the new battery is not charging.  After performing the test, was told that computer doesn't recognize any battery connected. Is this perhaps a defective battery, or might she have done some kind of damage? Notebook still works fine with just the AC adapter.

@Juan1960 If the replacement battery isn't working, perhaps, you could check that battery on another device to ensure it isn't the battery that's faulty, that said, if the battery works on another device and yet it doesn't work on the damaged notebook, there could be a malfunctioning charging port/battery connector on the motherboard, and that will need to be repaired or replaced.

I suggest you run a test and attempt a calibration using the steps in this link: click here (if you don't have access to another computer using the same battery)
