HP ENVY 15-j100 Quad Edition Notebook PC series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've had my Envy for almost 5 years (since 2013) and the battery is starting to wear out and make my computer a little slow, so I'm looking for a replacement battery.

The battery I currently have for my laptop  is the 710417-001

I'm aware that there was a recall for this particular battery (I believe in early 2017) and that is has been since been discontinued.

I'm aware that I can probably go to a third party to find another of this same kind, but I am afraid it might be defective or just as old and worn out.

My question is: Is there another type of battery I can buy to replace the old one for my HP Envy 15?

Here is the list of original batteries:

(23) Battery: 6 cell, 62 Wh, 2.80 Ah, Li-ion battery 710417-001 6 cell, 47 Wh, 2.20 Ah, Li-ion battery 710416-001

Only you can check the recall website to see if your specific battery was subject to recall.

Assuming it was, the recall only covers batteries made during a certain date range. If you buy a new battery from an HP reseller or a compatible non-HP trademarked 3rd party battery it will not be subject to the recall issues.

Genuine:

There is no other type of battery. It has to be physically identical to the original with the same interface and general shape or it would not fit in the laptop.

These are new product and will perform as new without recall issues.

Hope that helps.

I am in the same position a OP with the same laptop. I bought an HP branded battery years ago from Amazon that claimed to be authentic but turned out to be fake. Wth the Amazon link provided how can I be certain the batteries sold by third party is authentic. My battery wa not part of the recall so I have to buy a replacement but want to make sure the battery I buy is not stale since HP is not selling new batteies.

If you find someone on amazon or eBay selling "fake" HP batteries you would have serious recourse. There would also be potential criminal trademark issues for the seller. Just buy a battery advertised as "genuine" from a seller who has good reputation (feedback) and you will be fine.

Hello.  I am using HP Envy 15-j040er. As it is been loooong time since I am using it, the battery performance is terrible.

I need hp spare 710417-001 which you actually given a link for but the link is not working.

There are some options like

https://www.battdepot.com/de/opn/notebook+battery/hp/710417-001/lhp262.aspx

or

https://batteryempire.de/hp-compaq/979-1089984-akku-710417-001-fur-laptop.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwxaXtBRB...

but I am not sure about the quality. and also the output and capacities of batteries are a little bir different than the original one.

Do you know any reliable brand or seller?

I would like to have a good one , what would you advice?

Thanks in advance.
