HP Pavilion x360 Convertible (15-dq1071cl), Product Number 16A11UA#ABA
1. What are the necessary specifications/standards for upgrading (increasing size) of the M.2 SSD?
2. It appears as though a secondary drive (SATA) can be added to this computer, but I cannot find reference to that in the manual. Is there a kit for to add a SATA drive?
Full story: I am trying to add more capacity to a laptop that was recently purchased. The preference is to just increase the size of the M.2 SSD as I don't want to hassle with multiple drives, but I cannot determine: 1) what is the maximum size M.2 SSD that this laptop supports?, 2) what are the required specifications/standards for the M.2 SSD? I would like to get at least 1TB of storage in this computer (yes, I have a lot of photos). While reading through the manual, I cannot determine IF the computer will allow an increase in size of the M.2 or if it is limited by the existing hardware.
I would like to purchase the SATA HD kit, if it exists, but I have no idea where to find the information necessary to obtain the correct item.
Sorry for the basic questions, but I am making the switch from Dell (after using them for many years) due to their inability to provide support on a brand new computer that randomly and frequently reboots. They have replaced everything and cannot make it stop, but refuse to replace the entire faulty device. It happens with only their installed software right out of the box. Frustrating and $$$ down the chute. I just need to get back to a functional computer without issues ... sigh!
Thank you for any information you can provide.

Hi:
The size of the drives listed in the service manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not what the maximum capacity would be.
Below is the link to the Crucial memory/SSD report for your PC.
https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-x360-15-dq1071cl
According to the report, they say you can go as high as a 2 TB NVMe SSD.
It appears that they sell two levels of SSD's--the P5's having faster read/write speeds than the P2's.
Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the SSD removal and replacement procedure.
The service manual is outdated and does not contain the models with the newest processors.

As far as parts are concerned to add a 2.5" drive, they are listed in chapter 3 of the service manual but the parts are not available from HP.
That is one of the things you will find very difficult with HP PC's...obtaining parts.
You should be able to use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook onto the larger capacity SSD.
Here is a link for how to use that utility...

You can see if your notebook is supported by the cloud recovery tool at the link below. It should be.
