G7-2251dx
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)
I am attempting to fix my HP Pavilion g7-2251dx. The issue here is that it does not turn on. With or without the battery, with or without it being plugged in, it won't turn on. The light in the AC adapter doesn't even turn on. I have tried the power cord in another PC and it works. I have opened up the PC and removed the power connector and used it in another computer and it works. I have even tried using a similar power connector in the g7 but to no avail. It seems that the problem is with the motherboard, but there is no evidence of any kind of damage except for the tape not looking the greatest.

Being that this is the only thing that could be wrong, I may need to replace the motherboard. Where would be the best place to get one? I believe the model number of the motherboard is 680569-501.

And I did not cross-check the manual to verify the part number I assume you know what you want.

I was reading HP's maintenance and service guide for the g7, and I believe this is the system board that is closest to the model PC I have:

For use only with computer models equipped with 1 GB of dedicated switchable discrete video
memory and Windows 8 Standard

680569-501

As far as I can tell, this describes my g7-2261dx.

g7-2261dx or 2251dx as you said in first post.

2251 has "discrete-class" graphics which is a marketing way of saying not really discrete at all but integrated (UMA).

AMD Radeon HD 7640G Discrete-Class graphics and up to 2029MB total graphics memory

That is NOT 1 gb of dedicated switchable discrete.

Now you can install a motherboard with the discrete video and may prefer it but they are more expensive for a reason.

I linked you to an exact straight-up replacement.

Sorry, I missed types. It is a g7-2251dx

Its UMA not discrete graphics.
