My laptop has an i3 processor but I want to change it to an i7, is it possible to get it done?

It has 1.9GHz 4th generation Intel Core i3-4030U Processor (CPU) which is soldered to the motherboard. Changing to i7 processor (if supported) will cost you an arm and a leg because you have to buy a whole motherboard.
Short answer is NO you can't.

It is not so much complex to change the processor from your own, but for that, you have to compare the processors with hp support and get to know the similar and power featured processor and its configuration, and then you can easily set up with the processor.
