Hi HP Community,
I have this model of laptop to replace a keyboard which is not working after a glass of water was spilt on it.
I cannot find any videos on youtube of how to replace this keyboard, but after reading the manual I understand you need to remove every component from the keyboard and touchpad.
My question is, can just the keyboard be replaced or does the entire top (ie including palm rest and touch pad) need to be replaced, and is it a job someone could do themselves if patiently following the manual.
It looks like the most difficult keyboard replacement imaginable but I would like an opinion of someone who is familiar with this model.

As i am in the same spot myself with model 15-db0045nv, i will share with you what i have found already.. HP has made their new laptops quite troublesome in replacing the keyboard. You literally have to dismantle the whole laptop to reach the keyboard. It is the last reachable part. Changing only the keyboard and not the whole palmrest can be done but since the aluminum plate that the keyboard is attached to has no strews, after you remove it by breaking the "plastic seals" you must find a way to attach the new keyboard onto that plate. I would try a solder gun to remelt the plastic into "seals", regular glue or even a glue gun. Failure to do that correctly will probably result in a not so steady keyboard when the keys are pressed. I know it's a big difference in price between buying just the keyboard to the whole palmrest but if you are familiar with mending laptops i don't think it will be a problem. On the other hand, if it is your first time even changing the palmrest might be difficult for you.

Thanks Mythos, sorry for the late reply the notification was in my spam.
You confirmed exactly what I suspected, ie everything has to be removed before and the keyboard is sealed to the palm rest.
Not nice HP!
I will check out the video and see if I am prepared to risk just buying the keyboard.
Thanks for the great and detailed response.
Cheers
