HP Envy x360 m Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have HP Envy x360 m Convertible that the right hinge has separated from the display. My laptop sits on a desk and is used only by me so I know that there has been no misuse. The laptop has NEVER been moved, transported and by no means dropped. I simply close the cover when it isn’t being used and although it is a convertible, I have NEVER rotated the screen that far. I purchased the laptop a little over two years ago so it is out of warranty. If I actually rotated the display 360 degrees, I am sure the hinge and even the display would have broken well before the warranty expired.
I called HP and it would cost over $400.00 to have it repaired. My screen is not cracked (as I noticed the problem when I started opening it) and I told the repair specialist that twice during the call. Over $400 to repair a hinge that is a design flaw? No thank you!
This issue is a very common problem and HP is just making money off of consumers with these repairs. Why would any engineer think that a hinge secured by a screw in PLASTIC be a good idea? It is definitely to make more money on consumers. A laptop costing over $800.00 should last more than 2 years. If I have the repair completed, it will be a laptop costing me $1200.00. There should be a recall on these laptops.
I am disgusted by this and will never buy HP again.

I received a message from another HP employee which I have responded to.  I'm not sure that this is an acceptable solution at this time. It depends on the response from that employee.

No this is not acceptable.  Nothing changed. Repair cost is the same (over $400) for a broken hinge that is a design flaw. This laptop needs a recall on it.  I definately am not the only person that this has happened to!

It needs a consumer warning on it. DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER! or make sure to rotate the screen 360 degrees so it breaks within  the warranty period.  I didn't and sure wish I did!

There is definately a problem when you search "hinge" and there are 7000 results!! Consumer beware!
