Product: HP15 f003dx laptop
Hi All
I'm trying to help a friend who has had a hard disk crash on their HP15 laptop.
I've replaced the 750GB hard drive with a 1TB but when I start the system I'm told
"Smart hard disk error 301"
Putting other (smaller) drives in the laptop does not show the error, BUT putting the new drive in other machines, there is no error there either!
Not sure where to go now.
Any help advice greatly received.
Danny

The smart errors usually mean that the hard drive is bad. Not all computers will show the smart error on startup.
