Hello community. I just came home and found out unfamiliar screen saying SMART hard disk failure. Though it booted as always when I tried it, System Cheking(F2) states hard disk failure. Is this a fatal error? Is this fixable? Is drive really dying? I don't know what I should do now :'(

SMART is a feature that monitors hard drives.  HERE is a WIKI page that explains it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T.    In short, " Its primary function is to detect and report various indicators of drive reliability with the intent of anticipating imminent hardware failures. "  So when System Cheking(F2) states drive failure, it means the software is predicting a drive failure soon.  Stop using the PC.  Plan for a drive replacement.   Backup the data to a safe place, not on the failing hard drive, and replace the hard drive.  Restore the data to the new hard drive.

 

The easiest way to do that is to purchase a replacement hard drive and install it.  Then clone the old drive to the new drive before the failure happens.  If you need some advice on the steps, come back for more information.
